Friends' Volunteer Opportunities

Once you become a member of The Friends, a variety of volunteer opportunities become available for you to enjoy.  Many people find there is more than one activity that might interest them, and if that happens to you, you are not alone. Use the form below to let us know what you would like to do.  Here are some examples:

  • Gift Shop:  Meet interesting visitors as well as introduce them to many gift items designed or made by native artists and not available elsewhere.

  • Plan or Assist in Special Event Planning:  As a Planner for our 4th Sunday Lectures, you'll arrange for and meet interesting Speakers who have long experience researching aspects of local and state history.  As a Planner for other Special Events you'll be part of FCHS outreach or fund-raising events.  Or, you can volunteer to be a committee member, or a greeter or worker the day of the event.

  • Plan Day Trips, Overnight Trips, Hikes, or other similar activities.  Learn about and visit the many nearby sites available that would be of interest.  There are a lot of them!

  • Serve on the Board of Directors:  Work with great people to help plan and administer Friends' activities in support of each historic site.

  • Use your other Special Talents as a writer or photographer for the FCHS eBlast, quarterly newsletter, or to help with articles for magazines or newspapers.

In addition to assisting The Friends' outreach efforts, you can also volunteer at the site itself, such as being a Docent.  If you are interested in doing this, contact Ranger Annie Campagna for details: (505-867-5351) annie.campagna@state.nm.us.  Here are some opportunities:

  • Historic Site Docent

    • Docent Training  takes place in March

      • There are five 3-Hour Weekly Sessions that take place at the Coronado Historic Site

      • To register: Call: 505-867-4341 or 505-710-8798

      • Free for members of the Friends of Coronado Historic Site

  • Kuaua and/or Giusewa Pueblo Researcher

  • Historic Preservation Assistance

  • Grounds and Trail Maintenance

  • Gardening

  • Photography

Volunteering is a great way to get acquainted with members of the Friends, support the Friends' goals, as well as support the site.   Learn more by meeting one of our FCHS volunteers.

The volunteer program is managed by the Friends and all volunteers are required to be members of the Friends.  To volunteer,  simply fill out and send the form below indicating the type of activities that interest you.  For a more complete picture, you can complete a Volunteer Profile that has a list from which you can choose.

We look forward to meeting and working with you!
